Need Help Choosing CISSP Study Materials: Feeling Lost and Overwhelmed
Hello, I’m feeling a bit lost regarding the materials I need to prepare for the CISSP certification. I want to get certified within a reasonable timeframe, but I don’t know where to start. Many people recommend different books, videos, and other resources, and I’d like something clear and focused to guide me. I’m looking for up-to-date materials that will give me what I need to prepare effectively without being excessive. A practical Study Guide seems like a good fit, but I’d appreciate your recommendations on what to use. Also, since I’m based in Europe, resources from the U.S. tend to be much more expensive for me. Could you suggest options that are accessible for someone living in Europe? Thank you so much for your help! Best regards.

You are feeling a bit lost? Hopefully with so many suggestions, you can see clearly now 😊. Let me add my bit to add to the "clarity". I would recommend picking from this list and start reading it. (They are listed in the order that I rate them) Destination CISSP CISSP for Dummies. Official Study Guide Pick any one from the list. ANYONE! Toss a coin or something to help you decide. Any of them will get the job done. Video courses are great as a refresher. But only as a refresher! You dont want it to be your only resource to rely on. And do a LOT of practice questions. Go crazy on them.

@Parn C That'll be an excellent approach to follow. All the books I have listed are up-to-date.

For those who attended today's study group - here is a PDF of the slides. For anyone who didn't attend today, the topic was Human Risk Management, and the slides are linked as a PDF.

Difference between Risk Avoidance and Risk Acceptance and when to use it.
Hey everyone. Can someone please explain the difference in Risk Avoidance and Risk Acceptance and when should I use one or the other?

Its raining. But you feel like an umbrella is enough to handle the rain. You go out trusting the umbrella. Here the umbrella is what is mitigating the risk. But there is still some risk, maybe you'll still get a bit of water on your body. But that is okay. This is risk acceptance. You accept risk that you feel you can handle. On the other hand, if its raining cats and dogs and you don't think an umbrella could handle it, you don't go out. This is risk avoidance. You avoid the activity that brings about the risk.
