What you see in the classroom currently is free and very basic stuff, how to fall etc. The hold escapes are a tools in your tool box that you can draw from if you end up in a specific position( since fights evolve) You could end up in any number of positions. This is why we work on a foundation of hold escapes. There are many more aspects of self protection and family protection.,360Ā° awareness, risk, threat,crisis management and the technical portions of closing the distance, either striking or restraining.
