@Rhian Robertson Yes! Love it! And I remember reading somewhere about putting on a timer for 5 minutes (to just make a start) and once you start you end up going for longer because you just needed to stop procrastinating. πŸ’š
Introductions πŸ—£οΈ
Hi, lovely to have you with us in the Balanced Educators Hub. Please start at the tab labelled classroom and go to the first course- introduction to SKOOL. This will tell you a bit about this community. Please introduce yourself to the community (see the introduction post in the classroom). It's a great way to make new friends. Also if you like someone's post or add a comment then you gain points and the more points you have- you can move up the levels πŸ† (on the leaderboard) and gain free products! 🎁 This is the gamification part of SKOOL that I love! If you need support or help with anything then please let me know via messages. Have an amazing day! Danielle πŸ’š P.S There is also a SKOOL app! πŸ“² Download it on your iPhone or Android. Then you won't miss anything happening in our community. πŸ™‚

2. The "Productive Procrastination" Framework Research basis: Research by Dr. John Perry at Stanford University on "structured procrastination" and studies on task initiation by Dr. Timothy Pychyl Key findings: - Procrastinators often have high productivity on secondary tasks while avoiding primary ones - This energy can be strategically channeled into meaningful work - The key is to maintain multiple priority lists rather than fighting natural tendencies Implementation: - Create three concurrent task lists: Must-do (critical deadlines) Should-do (important but flexible) Want-to-do (personally motivating) - When avoiding a must-do task, immediately switch to a should-do task - Never allow yourself to procrastinate with non-productive activities - Use the psychological momentum from completing smaller tasks to tackle bigger ones - Set up your environment with visible cues for alternative productive tasks - Track "productive procrastination time" to maintain awareness πŸ’š

3. The "Context Priming" System Research basis: Studies on context-dependent memory by Dr. Steven M. Smith and environmental psychology research by Dr. Robert Gifford Key findings: - Environmental cues can trigger up to 50% faster task initiation - Consistent contextual cues can reduce decision fatigue by 70% - Physical environment changes can improve cognitive performance by 15% Implementation: - Create distinct zones for different types of work: Deep work zone (completely distraction-free) Communication zone (for meetings/calls) Creative zone (more stimulating environment) Administrative zone (organised for routine tasks) - Use specific sensory triggers: Different music playlists for different types of workDistinct scents for different work modes (e.g., rosemary for focus, citrus for creativity) Specific lighting conditions for each work type - Develop transition rituals between contexts: Physical movement between zones 2-minute breathing exercise Change in posture or seating - Set up "context anchors": Dedicated devices for specific tasks Different browsers for work vs. personal use Specific times of day for certain work types The power of these approaches lies in working with, rather than against, our natural cognitive tendencies. Would you like me to elaborate on implementing any of these systems or discuss how to adapt them to your specific situation? Each method addresses different aspects of our cognitive architecture: - Productivity Pulse works with our natural energy rhythms - Productive Procrastination harnesses our avoidance tendencies - Context Priming leverages our brain's associative learning patterns The key is choosing the method that best aligns with your current challenges and working style. πŸ’š
