What my day looks like,
Breaking the Multitasking Myth
Ever feel like you’re spinning multiple plates and none of them are really getting the attention they deserve? I've been there, trying to do it all at once and ending up with less-than-stellar results. I used to think multitasking was my superpower until I realized I was just switching tasks, not really finishing them. By focusing on one task at a time, I not only improved the quality of my work but also reduced the overwhelming feeling of constant busyness. How do you tackle your busy schedule? Do you prioritize or try to juggle everything at once? Share your experiences below and let’s discuss how focusing on one task might just be the game-changer you need.

Ever feel like you’re juggling multiple items while playing different instruments, all while two kids fight over who gets to be closest to you? It’s like spinning multiple plates and none of them are getting the attention they deserve. As a parent homeschooling six kids, aged 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12, managing my workflow has been a huge challenge. From the "terrible twos" to my 12-year-old glued to Roblox, it’s a constant juggling act. To tackle this, I adopted a prioritization strategy that made a significant difference: 1. List Everything: Make a comprehensive list of all tasks. 2. Prioritize: Rank tasks based on deadlines, importance, and impact. 3. Time Blocking: Allocate 15-minute time blocks, four times a day, for each task. This ensures focused work without distractions. Total Tasks: Realistically, I manage 5 tasks per day, resulting in a total of 300 minutes (5 hours) of focused work per person each day. 4. Regular Breaks: Schedule breaks to maintain focus and prevent burnout. Here’s a detailed daily to-do list for a family of eight, broken down into 15-minute time blocks: Morning (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM) 1. Breakfast Preparation (8:00 AM - 8:15 AM) 2. Clean Up After Breakfast (8:30 AM - 8:45 AM) 3. Homeschool Session 1 (9:00 AM - 9:15 AM) 4. Morning Chores (9:30 AM - 9:45 AM)Kids: Tidy rooms, make bedsParents: Sweep common areas 5. Homeschool Session 2 (10:00 AM - 10:15 AM) 6. Snack Time (10:30 AM - 10:45 AM) 7. Laundry (11:00 AM - 11:15 AM) Midday (12:00 PM - 4:00 PM) 1. Lunch Preparation (12:00 PM - 12:15 PM) 2. Clean Up After Lunch (12:30 PM - 12:45 PM) 3. Homeschool Session 3 (1:00 PM - 1:15 PM) 4. Afternoon Chores (1:30 PM - 1:45 PM)Kids: Help with dishes, tidy play areas Parents: Vacuum living room 5. Homeschool Session 4 (2:00 PM - 2:15 PM) 6. Outdoor Play/Exercise (2:30 PM - 2:45 PM) 7. Snack Time (3:00 PM - 3:15 PM) 8. Laundry (3:30 PM - 3:45 PM) Evening (4:00 PM - 8:00 PM) 1. Dinner Preparation (4:00 PM - 4:15 PM) 2. Clean Up After Dinner (4:30 PM - 4:45 PM) 3. Evening Chores (5:00 PM - 5:15 PM)Kids: Pick up toys, tidy homework areas Parents: Mop kitchen floor 4.
