@Trey Lewellen kind of but when you are flying SAR patterns North up is grid aligned. It's useful. I will switch to track up on Foreflight when trying to locate traffic.

I aim to shoot 6 approaches per month (vs the required 6HITS). I try to do at least 3 in the airplane and 3 in the simulator (I have an FAA Certified BATD). The sim allows me to shoot approaches into challenging airports, or airports I wouldn't normally get to fly into.
