What Do Pre-Seed Investors Really Want to Hear?
As a founder, you only get a few seconds to grab an investorā€™s attention. I used to fill those seconds with nerves (small talk that no one cared about), not enough substance (I know, yikes!). But after some hard feedback, I learned: clarity is everything. At our Community Zero To Millions Club we believe in delivering the message investors want to hear, not just what we think is clever. Less bs, more impact. And I know that confidence comes from practice which is why it's so important to join the right community early on that supports you in this journey. What about you? How do you think you can improve your pitch in just two seconds? What do you think investors are really looking for? Letā€™s hear it šŸ‘‡

The Power of Words: What I Learned from Time
I've been advising and mentoring idea-stage founders for over a decade. During an Ariana Huffington talk in 2012, I had an eye-opening moment. She took the stage with just a few powerful words, and it hit meā€”I was doing it all wrong. Here's what I adjusted: šŸ›‘ Overcomplicating things, talking too fast, and not anchoring myself by taking breaks. šŸ›‘ The joke I was telling was a mix of cultures and heartbroken poets, it didn't work in a professional setting. šŸ›‘ My knowledge wasn't being delivered in an effective manner. Now, my approach centers on: šŸŽÆ Listening carefully and responding promptly, with a focus on respecting others' time. šŸŽÆ Using fewer, more impactful wordsā€”allowing time to heal and shed old habits. šŸŽÆ Communicating directly in ways that truly connect with my audience, prioritizing their needs and challenges over my own. The outcome? A 150% increase in conversions! Whatā€™s the best communication advice youā€™ve received? Do you think clarity is essential for a pitch?

Indeed. Thank you.
Keeping Your Focus as a Startup Founder
A startup founder often gets distracted by new opportunities, endless ideas, or pressure to grow quickly. You must maintain focus on your core mission and the problems you're passionate about solving in order to achieve long-term success. To help you stay on track and avoid that trap, here are some chill tipsšŸ‘‡: āIdentify the problem you're passionate about solving. Rather than trying to do everything, focus on one problem you genuinely care about. This focus will guide every decision you make and keep you grounded when shiny new ideas tempt you to stray. āClarify your target audience. Donā€™t try to appeal to everyone right awayā€”start by identifying a specific niche group that will benefit most from your solution. Who are they? What are their pain points? Once you understand them, you can craft your messaging and offerings to resonate deeply. āStay true to your mission. It can be tempting to chase every opportunity or feature request, but not every shiny object is worth pursuing. Learn the art of saying no to things that donā€™t align with your core mission. āCreate a roadmap and stick to it. Having a clear roadmap of where youā€™re going and how you plan to get there is essential. Break down your long-term vision into actionable steps. It can be easy to get distracted by the latest trend or viral topic, but your roadmap helps you measure progress and stay focused. Keep checking back to make sure youā€™re still headed in the right direction. āEmbrace feedback, but filter it carefully. Feedback is important, but itā€™s crucial to filter it through the lens of your mission. Not all feedback is equally valuable. Stay open to constructive criticism, but remember that the loudest voices donā€™t always reflect the needs of your core customers or the long-term success of your project. ā Focus on quality, not quantity. Itā€™s tempting to scale fast or release tons of new features to keep the momentum going, but quality always beats quantity. Consistency in quality is what sets you apart and creates lasting value.

Emotions. Yep, your own feelings can be your worst enemy when you're building a startup. Have you ever caught yourself feeling paralyzed by fear of failure or completely drained by emotional burnout? It can really sabotage your leadership, clarity, and decision-making. The good news? Community is often the cure. Surrounding yourself with like-minded founders, who understand what youā€™re going through, can make a world of difference. Having a support network can help you stay grounded, focused, and resilient. In the Zero To Millions Accelerator, we teach founders how to manage their mindset, overcome emotional roadblocks, and lead with clarityā€”especially during those tough times. It's all about building a community that lifts you up, so you can move forward with confidence. Let me know your thoughtsā€”I'd love to hear how you're handling these challenges!
