LLM + LangChain + Function Calling = 🤯
OK, so for a while, I was having a lot of difficulty seeing how these LLMs are anything more than fun little gimmicks. Then I began to see how you can treat them as sort of pre-trained experts, but with stale knowledge (kind of like a senior dev who hasn't taken much time to look at what's new out there in a while 😳). Of course, Dave has done a great job of explaining how easy it is to write small utility apps that aren't really too gimmicky. But then discovering function calling made it all click. It makes the LLM a part of a pipeline, rather than a a solitary service that you have to train as an expert and make it do all the work. Now this stuff makes sense and, when combined with other ML and standard programming models, makes for a powerful toolkit for application programming, particularly if a set of standard starter-kits are compiled together. In any way, the rusty old gears in my head are turning now. Excellent stuff.

GWM - General World Models
Have you heard of multimodal AI? This could be the next thing after LLMs. Here is the announcement. https://research.runwayml.com/introducing-general-world-models

OK, see, I dig this... this has to happen for AGI to happen.

@David Ritchie I was sort of thinking that. Guessing natively integrated multi-modal provides added levels of efficiency?

@Sabine Birken I was just being goofy. 😊 Thumbs up given, though.
When thinking of AI, what one or two words come to your mind?
My word is 'Potential'.

Creation
AI engineering assistant?
Along with my 40 hour as a Consultant, I also own a toy company. I love the creation process and ideating new toys is so much fun. But I struggle in the prototyping area. It's a lot of work sometimes and the tedium of getting the gears "just right", etc. can suck the life and fun out of a project. So I have been looking at ways to automate a lot of that with AI and, well, it's not quite there yet, but it is far closer than I thought. I toyed around with having Grok create python script for Blender using a prompt and for basic things it works! I imagine I could create a LLM specifically for generating 3D models for automata and then create a library of reusable prompts and parts. Add to that the ability to automatically slice them and queue them up for 3D printing and I'm that much closer to Jarvis. 😁 Have you seen anything like this in practice out in the AI world?
