Hello
Hello everybody I just joined this week and am excited to be here. Here is a track im finishing up and would love to get some feedback on before I call it good and start prepping it for release. Thanks in advance! https://soundcloud.com/wamblimusic/wambli-still-to-come-mp3/s-7CyrDOhIpJV?in=wamblimusic/sets/unreleased-1/s-wiorOLZ6jte&si=91854a00634243419d612a712e038403&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

@Troy Outtram The vocals in this one are a sample that I got from Splice. Typically when I'm writing I'll use a sample to help me establish a theme, get some basic ideas for how I want to use vocals in the track and I'll have my wife record exactly what I want when the track is about 90% done. This way I have something to show her as an example of how I'd like her to deliver the vocals. For this track I didnt put the sample into a sampler, they're just chopped up and positioned in their own tracks. Compression, reverb, delays (I'll use multiple tracks with different types of delays and hard EQ settings instead of trying to automate changes). I also like to run vocals through a plugin called RC-20 by XLN Audio. Its a beautiful sound design plugin that makes things sound very analog...Lots of ways to play with it, Noise, distortion, reverb/delay, modulation. In fact, I run almost all of my sounds through it!

@Adrian Schwengebecher Laperal I found the problem and I thought I'd come back to share incase someone can learn from it. My kick sample was too long so I put a Kickstarter on it to help me shape the tail (I don't like using Logics samplers to shape samples if I don't have to). It was set to Synch instead of audio and was triggering slightly off time which produced a second click just a few milliseconds after the original transient.
Tried the automating LFO thing
So in the "what do you want to learn post I asked about automating an LFO to turn a repeating sound into a riser/downer. While playing with it, it evolved into this. Still working on the breakdown (it can be more dynamic), the main acid synth in the drops (i dont know if its mean enough...or too mean, im going in circles), and the percussion fills. But the core of the track is done. Any ideas or inputs are welcome! https://soundcloud.com/wamblimusic/wambli-we-love-demo/s-8zxxvxZkxdH?si=0208ec06bc254f578bbe3809afa7532f&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

I would love for someone to show me how to program an LFO trigger to do this sound in Serum. Perhaps make it capable of being turned on and off with automation so that I can use the sound throughout the rest of the track and trigger the LFO/wobble/slow down effect at the right time. Its the synth that starts at about 1:15 that starts the "hang" in this drop. https://youtu.be/bxYhJpILIQE?t=75
Track Feedback ≈ "Ancient Eternity"
It's me again - with a smile on my face while listening to my latest track. To me the track sounds like Anyma & Chris Avantgarde are having an LSD trip in an Indian yoga retreat. Smile! I hope you like it and I'm looking forward to your feedback: ≈> https://on.soundcloud.com/i3oa4 Besides general feedback, I'm curious what you guys say about copyright - the construction of a track can't be protected by copyright - or should I expect angry afterlife managers if I publish this? For Weltsound Mentorship users it's easy to see where I got the "inspiration" for this. Thanks again, for afterlife eternity. Also, I hope it's OK for you Adrian to use your steeze. I have made some changes so that it is not simply a 1:1 copy. The production was a lot of fun while learning a lot. Mainly a re-sampling with proper filter automation and tweaking some sounds. Hey so again your atmos are fantastic, you have a real talent for building beds of sound. Love it. I think mix wise the track feels a bit unbalanced between the low end and the highs. I cant see with an analyzer but it sounds like there's alot of presence in the mix, so maybe try cutting a few DBs somewhere between 8k-12k. This may also help clear up some space for a lead element to really shine through if you wanted. On the low end try boosting it a few DBs around 90-120 (where ever the kick transient is) and maybe cutting a few around 300 (for mud/build up). Also if you havent already put a highpass filter on the entire low end at 20-40hz, that can often times give alot of clarity to the low end. Love the track, love the vibe. When you say that you're curious about Copyright, what are you worried about being protected? The arrangement? Are there uncleared samples being used?

@Beat Ottiger No I havent studied sound engineering. I did go to Berklee College of Music for a Logic Certification many years ago. I've just been making music for a long time, mostly hip hop stuff for other people. I created sample packs for a while for Producer Loops and R-Loops, musics been really off and on for me. But in October I saw a Will Sparks show (my first EDM show of any kind) and I decided that night that I wanted to dive back into music, learn to make Techno, and do it professionally. So I'm relearning some things, the way elements are mixed are really different in EDM compared to other genres that I've worked on, and I'm really trying to master Serum and understand how my favorite producers create the sounds that they use (which led me here to learn). As for the copyright stuff. You cant copyright a songs arrangement. Its actually really common practice, even amongst the pros, to copy arrangements, and that's because its a standard way of laying out a track for a DJ to mix into their session. Chord progressions dont fall under Copyright protection because its like trying to claim ownership of a word. Copyright protection does protect a piece of music once its been turned into a real asset/recording. So a synth pad that follows the chords C - G - D that has been recorded or bounced into an audio file would have copyright protection. But the artist/producer has no actual ownership of the C - G - D progression. So long story short...there's nothing wrong with using another song to help you organize yours. Copyrights don't apply to actual chord progressions or arrangements.
