I’ve been struggling with sleeping in vs getting up and doing my devotionals/working out for a while now and always saying “I should be getting up” or “I should have gotten up early today” and beating myself up over it. I’m so glad you gave this specific example and some questions I can ask myself up getting up early or sleeping in!!
My 7 year old son who isn’t the biggest fan of reading… I’ve been saying “Would you like to read a book to mommy tonight, or would you like mommy to read a book to you?” And then follow that up with “do you want mom to pick the book or would you like to pick it?” Been working alright so far… making more progress then just saying “we are reading books tonight so go pick one out”!
I really loved this one! It made me realize how important it is to give kids freedom and the best ways to do that. I love the examples of giving them choices and putting it in their hands, while also being choices that make us as parents equally happy. I tend to try and just do things for my kids (I.e., pick out their clothes every day) so that it’s easier and quicker, but letting them choose every day things like that, can really go a long way!
@Clarissa Heneghen this is exactly how I feel after listening to the videos and examples! I am going to spend more time asking God to reveal these truths to me, as I know there is a lot of work to be done so that I can be a better mom and wife — the one God had called me to be!
Hello! My name is Chelsey and I am a mom of 2 kiddos — my boy is 7 and my girl is 5 (will be 8 and 6 in October!). I’m excited to begin this journey and learn to be more patient, engaged, and gentle with my little loves — like Jesus is with me!
