My journey to Tana goes something like this: Was introduced to the power of "hierarchical editing/thinking" (outliners) in the mid '80s through the work of Neil Larson (MaxThink on DOS), Edward de Bono (toward building strength in mental model development and early "tools for thought" thinking), then Dave Winer in the '90s (Radio Userland). Became somewhat obsessed with the idea of "augmentation" proposed by Engelbart, Kay, Licklider, et al. Always on the lookout to "level up" in abstract thinking, so moved my development activity into the Smalltalk space which was amazing. Spent years documenting "life" and work processes in tools like Bonzai (Windows outliner), TiddlyWiki, and later MacJournal and DEVONthink. Heavy user still of OmniOutliner and OmniFocus. Discovered Roam Research early on, played a bit with Logseq, dabbled in Notion and Obsidian. Then WHAM! …Tana hit my radar. Hooked!! So, working to build that "Life OS" thing and seeing no end to where Tana (as the platform) might take me!
