Slab-on-grade stone prep
Hey all, Perhaps a really stupid noob question, but my excavation contractor and I have been going back and forth on best materials to place under my slab prior to concrete. We're trying to find a balance between ease of digging for running conduit and plumbing, cost, and ease of getting compacted/leveled. Any insights or thoughts are greatly appreciated! Cheers, Matt N.

Bailey Intro
Hi everyone! My name is Bailey, I haven't gotten a chance to introduce myself in here yet. I am Mitch's wife, and we built our family home in 2018. I had a major role in our floor plans and finishings, and I had a big vision for what our family home would be! Mitch (of course) had to keep me on track with the budget, and we definitely had to cut a few things that we both wanted. The whole process was really rewarding, and now our three boys get to grow up in a home we designed to function perfectly for our family needs. Please feel free to shoot me a message or ask any questions in the community about my perspective of the building process in general, my view on functional layouts for young and growing families, our choices for child/pet resistant finishings (😂), how our floor plans evolved, what we kept/gave up, what we would change, what we absolutely love about the house, etc etc etc - I'm happy to answer anything that I can! We're really looking forward to hearing all of your stories, getting to know you and your reasons behind wanting to build, and seeing you progress through this journey!

👋 Welcome, Start Here!
Welcome to the community of future builders! The goal of this community is to make it easier for you to tackle your first build. We are here to share techniques, budgets, mistakes, corrections, and share anything that helps advance each others builds. There is a leaderboard to track engagement and reward members who contribute - here’s how it works: POINTS: You earn points when other members like your posts or comments. 1 like = 1 point. This encourages users to produce quality content and interact with other members in the community. LEVELS: As you gain points, you level up. Your level is shown at the bottom right of your avatar. The number of points required to get to the next level is shown under your avatar on your profile page. In the future, contests will be announced to reward weekly/ monthly leaders, and prizes will be available at certain levels. INACTIVITY: Please note, the intention of this group is to create and active and engaged community that helps everyone involved advance their goals of building a home. If you entered the group during the free start up period, and are inactive for longer than 30 days, you may be removed from the group. NOW TOO, KICK THINGS OFF!
