Day 1… I’m In Love
So after a thirty hour trip to get here and a few hours of shut eye Danang does not disappoint. Up early to check out the beach activities and was so inspired I actually got a run in. And that is saying a lot as I have not run since my double hip replacement. Exchanged USD for VND at a gold shop and was given a higher rate than the exchange. 🥳 Money in my pocket and now eating a delicious meal.

Bank Account in Vietnam
I wanted to start a new thread on this topic. It seems there's a lot of concern about opening a bank account here and whether getting a bank card is possible or not. (not possible on tourist visa) I feel kind of silly for forgetting to mention this, but 99% of transactions are made using a QR code with your bank app. Even the smallest local restaurants and vendors at the local market accept payment by QR code. You could pay for a piece of fruit up to your entire rent with QR code. Therefor, a bank card is not at all necessary. It seems the best option for most people will be to have a WISE account, and transfer money cheaply from your home bank account to the VN account. You would have to withdraw a small amount of cash in person from the bank but this would last a long time if you mostly pay by QR code. TIMO is the easiest bank to open an account with. I have a VN bank card and I can't remember the last time I used it. It's in a drawer somewhere 😂 Hope this clears things up for some people 👍
