Camelids in permaculture?
Hey all. We have found ourselves in a position to accept a small herd of alpacas on our farm. I've been devouring as much information as I can get my hands on before move-in day, but so far I'm not finding a ton of info about using alpacas or other camelids in a permaculture system. Does anyone here raise them, or know of someone who does that has it documented somewhere? Thanks!

I’ve seen them used as livestock guardian animals for sheep. They will protect a flock from any large predator. Other than that I don’t have much information.
Help Us Plan Our Food Forest
We just received news that we will be receiving a grant through our local conservation district. We will have $10,000 to buy plants. What are you interested? What should we grow? Attached is a list of 50 productive plants for this region that we put in many of our designs. What stands out to you as something we should plant.

@Joanie Firnstahl Koorn Thank you!!! Your creeping raspberry is so delicious! I would love to plant some at the farm! How interesting. I didn't know about lemon balm and mint cross pollinating. How does it taste? I bet it would make a great tea.

Postponing Live Sessions
Hey all! We are shifting our focus a bit as we gear up for a season of more focus on developing our farm. We will not be offering as many live sessions as before. For future reference, it would be helpful to know which days and times work best for you for live sessions? Please include your timezone in the comments. We hope to offer more live chats starting later this fall.

Happy Windsday Pooh, happy Windsday Piglet!

Welcome to the group! We are talking with a cbd production farm about creating a virtual tour of their place. Would be awesome to work on that project! Have you seen an hemp homes in person before?

@Elle Grace the farm is in New York! But hopefully we get to create a virtual tour of there site and everyone can see it. So awesome that there is a hemp home build near you! Are you able to help out and learn about the process? Especially with your base of knowledge, that seems like a rad opportunity!

The Permaculture Podcast with @Scott Mann Inspiration Farm with @Brian Kerkvliet and Alexandra King @Mary Marshall and I recently interviewed two of our heroes and mentors. It is hard to put into words the ways Brian and Alexandra have made a positive impact on our lives and our entire region. If you want to see permaculture in action- listen to their words, tour their farm, and ask questions below. We hope you enjoy learning from these folks as much as we do! Throughout, you’ll hear how they create a thriving, viable, farm, on a little less than 9 acres, with perennials and annuals with an ever-evolving experimental blend of enterprises growing food, producing art, and teaching others. With this work, Brian and Alexandra are also deeply involved in their local and regional communities, drawing in like-minded people, supporting one another, and providing ongoing inspiration."-Scott Mann Resources Inspiration Farm Salish Seed Guild Whatcom Permaculture Regenerate Cascadia This episode of The Permaculture Podcast with Scott Mann is a collaboration between Permaneo Group LLC and Edge Perma. @Joanie Firnstahl Koorn Unfortunately, the department of ecology often seems to hold up a lot of people from implementing regenerative water systems. Some of the best systems I've seen would be totally illegal but are ecologically phenomenal. Check out this interview with Larry: https://www.thepermaculturepodcast.com/podcast/2022/natural-farming-and-masanobu-fukuoka Larry was very involved with educational programing at Pragtree Farm several decades back. That would be so cool if he was a relative! We did have a blast on this one. So glad you enjoyed it!
