3 contributions to Low-Carbon Hydrogen
Underground energy gold rush: Fortescue bets big with A$21.9M on geologic hydrogen in the HyTerra deal.
In my personal opinion, this could be a game-changer for geologic hydrogen. Think about it: 1. Fortescue is buying 39.8% of HyTerra 2. They'll use the money to look for hydrogen in more places 3., They're planning to drill 6 wells instead of just 2 This made me wonder: Could geologic hydrogen be the next big thing in energy? Let's look at some numbers. @Paul Dial shared this interesting info about U.S. oil production: โ€ข 1859: 2,000 barrels โ€ข 1879: ~20 million barrels โ€ข 1906: ~126 million barrels โ€ข 2024: ~5 billion barrels Could we see a similar growth for geologic hydrogen? Yes or no? What do you think this development means for the future of hydrogen? Will we see the next project after Mali soon? Or is it too early to tell? P.S. Is there a map of geolocations where hydrogen exploration been done?

@Clemens Behrend I haven't used my LinkedIn honestly ever, just registered there one time and maybe updated the picture ๐Ÿซฃ will have to check it out ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Hi, my name is Alvis ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป I'm from Canada and really interested in new tech and green energy production. I worked for substantial part of my life in oil and gas industry as well as mining and I think that because we can't just get rid of fossil fuels in a snap of a finger ,plus manufacturing of the components for everyday use still require oil, these fields really need to co-exist in a friendly manner, developing most efficient up to date options. That's where communities like this I think are awesome! We also have one about Solar, if you're curious, more than welcome to check it out in my bio ! Thank you for having me and let's make the difference ๐Ÿค๐Ÿผ

@Clemens Behrend Thank you kindly! Glad to be a part of this community! Just started going through the classroom tab, very interesting interview ! If anyone who didn't get to it, yet, highly recommend ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป
I've compared green and blue hydrogen, focusing on their costs, emissions, and policy influence. Here's what I found in some studies:
What did I find? โ†’ Green hydrogen costs: $3โ€“$8/kg; linked to renewable electricity prices. โ†’ Blue hydrogen costs: $1โ€“$2/kg but reliant on low natural gas prices. โ†’ Emissions: Green is almost zero-emission; blue requires 90%+ COโ‚‚ capture. โ†’ Technology: Electrolyzer costs for green hydrogen may drop by 50% by 2030. โ†’ Policies: Carbon pricing and subsidies play a decisive role in both markets. โ†’ Methane leakage: A critical factor for blue hydrogenโ€™s feasibility. Check out the slides for more details and a bonus at the end. Get our Q3/2024 market review here: P.S. Which type of hydrogen do you think will dominate in the next decade? Did you find something in the slides you agree or disagree with? Tell me ๐Ÿ‘‡

Is there any solar powered hydrogen facilities ? I would imagine it would have to be huge farm, but nevertheless....๐Ÿค”
