I come from the yoga capital of the world, Rishikesh, and they tell us meditation is living in the moment. Yet everyday, I notice how we spend most of our lives, living either in the past or the future. We barely pay any heed to the present and I don’t know how to feel about it. Since we are born, we are made to look in those places, be it the “hard work we have to do for a better future” or to “learn from the past mistakes.” But what about the present which is fleeting every second like some tap left running? How to be in the moment then? Few days back, I read it somewhere that the ‘present’ does not exist, it is actually a myth! To live in the moment means to live beyond time. That is why when Yogis live in the moment it is actually called ‘eternal.’ For this one chant mantras and it is one of the most basic solution to living in the moment. It reminds us and brings us to our pure consciousness which majority of us forget about. Do y’all feel the same way? I would love to hear your take on this.
