Without a doubt. I was mostly a hard rock kid (Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, etc) but also loved melodic rock (yacht rock incl) -- The Eagles, The Little River Band, The Doobie Brothers, and yes Christopher Cross ... and also included acts like James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Parliament, The Tubes, XTC, The Go-Go's, etc. All over the place. And it all influences my choices, I have no doubt. I'll also say It's made me open, sonically, to a great variety of ideas while creating that maybe had nothing to do with what I listened to, and maybe that's because I listened to a wide variety of music growing up. I view it all as valuable because I don't feel closed off to genres or experimental work.
