Coming back next month?
This was my first Fix the Mix, and I absolutely loved it, but have a question for the people who've gone before: why did you come back? Do you learn something different every month? Do you come to do the homework just to see how your skills have improved over the past month? Do you come because it's entertaining and/or fun? Do you come just because it allows you to interact with a community of like-minded artists? To those like me whose first FTM this was: are you coming back? Why/why not? I'm probably going to come back next month, but I'd been curious since day 1 of why people would do that, so I thought: why not just ask?

It's always when I have a booking/appointment in studio (different time zone...I'm in the Caribbean) so I only get part of the class and have to watch the recap when I get chance but I love their teaching methods and explanations ( they are very knowledgable) Plus you always catch something you missed or neglected the time before ... Also love the comments in the Zoom live chat hahahahah.

ooorrr just be creative and be that guy that first did it
I'm sure everyone wants to know...Need Jake, Dane or Caleb to answer this!
What songs would you consider great masters for referencing and where to find them because anything from youtube would be squashed by their limiter already, no?

Fix The Mix (Sept) Trybe - Running Out [TG_MIX/MASTER]
Well, first go at mix/mastering a live band. I'm used to Dance Music mix/master - but there are certainly a lot of similarities. HH's were the toughest part (lots of spikes and variables). The intro had a pre distorted intro build (as the artist must have intended this), so I shaved off some highs and used soother to reduce. Gentle compression for the master with added shimmer for the highs. Compression on Vox and Drums only for the mix. Starting with volumes was the huge takeaway - I'm used to doing both eq and vol at the same time. Doing vol and pan first was massive......thanks guys Revised master (hi freqs were too much)

Same here with the first time doing a live band. I'm accustomed working more with samples and stock tones and my focus is more on reggae, dancehall and soca...I tamed the majority and got it sounding decent. Checked the link and there was nothing
