One of our data engineers left last week and we removed his credentials from the system and now we cannot access a couple of lakehouses. Can you help us with that? ๐Ÿ˜ Actually scary stuff!!

@Will Needham I know the link. It is actually funny and scary at the same time, because it was about to happen to us too as we had the owner of the lakehouse leave the team, but another member knew about this issue, so his credentials were not removed at the 11th hour. There is a PowerShell script for the warehouse that you can use, but nothing on the lakehouse as yet. Wake up Microsoft!!
5k members, 1200 threads and now a 2nd team member
Hi everyone, things have gone fast since I launched this community back in January 2024!! I still remember my proud post when we reached 50 members (see below). Well, recently we crossed a previously unimaginable milestone of 5k members. Thank you to every one of you that chooses to spend your time here learning Fabric and engaging with the community. So far, we have had over 1200 conversations/ threads about Microsoft Fabric (the search bar contains a wealth of information!). I hope it has helped you learn Microsoft Fabric. The best thing is that this is just the start, I will continue to invest in this community because I can see it's making (at least a small) difference. But a community of this size is difficult to manage alone (especially as now I spend a lot of time in Fabric Dojo too). As such, I'm delighted to announce that I've brought on board Maleek - @Mubaraq Abdulmaleek to support yourselves (and me!) around the community. Maleek is hugely passionate about Fabric (he was one of the first members of this community back in January!), DP-600 certified and eager to learn as much as possible. He'll help new members get onboarded, help members find stuff (course content/ previous answers to community questions), and generally help make sure you have a great experience here. Great to have you here, Maleek! Soon, I'll share what I have planned for this community in 2025 and beyond. Thank you so much for being a part of this community we're building!

SEPTEMBER FABRIC UPDATES ANNOUNCED (FabCon2024)
So now we have confirmation of the new features that are being launched at FabCon. There are three main places to look: - The September 2024 Fabric Update Blog - Arun Ulag's summary of the announcements, which is also useful - If you like video, you can watch the Microsoft YouTube video on the updates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWQMlt9ikE0 It will take a few hours (or days/ weeks) to digest everything that's in there, but a few that caught my eye on first look: General: - Git Integration is now GA - New Fabric Terraform provider has been released (Preview), to enable infrastructure-as-code/ automation. - Access Databricks Unity Catalog tables from Fabric (public preview) Data Warehouse - T-SQL NOTEBOOKS! This is really cool - and opens up new options for Data Analytics (who know T-SQL), I mentioned this in my latest video. - Delta column mapping in the SQL analytics endpoint (public preview) - this allows users to be a bit more liberal with column names (including spaces, if that's your jam) Data Engineering - Support for spaces in Lakehouse Delta table names - T-SQL Endpoint now working on Lakehouse with Schemas (but Lakehouse Schemas still preview: use with caution!).

There is another one that you missed @Will Needham. Not a new feature in Fabric but certainly in terms of the Fabric learning landscape.

My pick of the announcements is the "Copy Job" feature. It solves the problem of implementing incremental load without using any workaround and should give the best performance for batch loads as well.
Events this week
Hey everyone! Last week, I had the opportunity to present at the London Fabric User Group on the topic of "Life after DP-600 - How To Thrive as a Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer" - photo courtesy of @Edward Ritchie - thanks Ed! This week (Tuesday eve, West US time) I'll be doing the same talk at the Silicon Valley Fabric Meetup group - it's an online event that I think anyone can sign up for, so check it out: https://www.meetup.com/silicon-valley-microsoft-fabric/events/301865641/?eventOrigin=group_upcoming_events This afternoon (4pm, UK Time), I'm doing an Onboarding Call in the Fabric Dojo community, introducing new members to the community. So if you want to sign up for the Dojo today, you can get a near-instant onboarding ๐Ÿ™‚ Then next week, we have European Fabric Conference to look forward to - so probably lots of new announcements on Fabric! I'm also working on re-starting the old YouTube account (I remembered my password! ๐Ÿ˜‰) - so look forward to that in the next few weeks - lots of new, hopefully regular, videos coming soon! What are you up to this week? Anything interesting??

@Roxana Crisan You cannot use pen and paper in the online proctored exam. However, if you take the exam in the test center, you have this option provided by the test center
