ISBN
I have many books that I have been using amazon ISBN. This year, wven though I am not making money yet, I watched Julies ..why to buy the ISBN video.. so now for 2025, I am going to switch and buy my ISBNs so I can start doing ingram sparks or other distros. But I dont want to use money I am not making yet to advertise if I would loose all the reviews when I switch ISBN. QUESTION: what is the fastest way to get the ISBN switch done for about 20 books.

That's going to cost you some money for 20 ISBN numbers. Bowker or myidentifiers.com. in the USA is the safest and fastest way to get ISBNfor US residents. You get them instantly. However, if you don't have your own publishing company then register them in your own name. I do believe printing through most of these companies they can provide their own ASIN number. You would do better to use that money for advertising. What are your books about? Maybe we can brainstorm ways for you to get the word out about your books. If your not in the USA you may be able to get them free
About me
Hello. I'm known as Kj. My husband and I started writing during COVID. We write from the heart and from our experience. We are looking forward to publishing our first book very soon. We have plans for several other books: some already written, some in the process, and some in the early development. We hope to continue this through our retirement. We like fishing, supporting our community and enjoying life.

@Yna Davis Nice to meet you too. Thanks. My excitement is difficult to contain. But first things first. I can't start putting the cart ahead of the horse. Lol. I know I need to get my website ready, my meds kit done. There is so much to do. Lol 😆

@Deborah Lawson-martin hello Deborah. To make money in retirement one should do one of a few things, write a lot of books (I hear 20 is a good start) or cure an infectious disease, or solve a world problem. I'm currently working on the first one. Lol 😆
Introductions
Greetings to all, my name is Shawn. I'm 57 years old and live in Jacksonville Florida. i served 22 years in the Army followed by a short stint as a property manager for single soldier barracks and a stint as a security guard. I'm divorced and live with my younger sister who needs a caretaker following a dozen strokes over the past two years. I went back to school and earned my history degree last June (2024) since I won't be leaving the house to work I figure that I could do research and writing from home. My focus is to discover the vast achievements of marginalized people and write those experiences. I hate 'Black History Month'' because it has dissolved into recognizing a dozen names in history when there is so much more that has earned being memorialized and not forgotten. Anyway, no real hobbies anymore though I spent the past 18 months teaching myself how to cook and history reading. So, I look forward to interacting with everyone.

Hello and welcome Shawn. I know a little of what you are going through now. Except now that COVID is less troublesome in my community I can go outside. One little tip. Where I lived I had two upper level educational institutions that both had nursing programs. I was able to hire affordable help so I could sometimes get out of the house for a little while. I hope you found this helpful. And thank you for your service.
Book Launch Party?
Is anyone out there doing a book launch party? As frightening as it is, I'm stepping forward to try one! You can get an idea of it here: financialepiphany.com/events. There'll be speakers and such on the book topic. Have ideas for your own? What did you, or what do you want to do at it?

Woo hoo! That's exciting. Take a friend or family member with you to handle and stack books so you don't have to interrupt your conversation with your fans. Tell all your friends and family. They want to support you in this endeavor. Have some flyers handy for those who are just passing by. They may actually look at it later and order a book at a later date. A three fold pamphlet is a good choice. Signage is good. Vista prints does a good job. Think of a simple saying you can write in your book for those wanting an autograph. Us a fine tip sharpie and bring a pocket full. Lol 😆
