Post-Traumatic Growth is the positive psychological change that some individuals experience after a life crisis or traumatic events. Post-traumatic growth doesn’t deny deep distress, but rather posits that adversity can unintentionally yield changes in understanding oneself, others, and the world. Post-traumatic growth can, in fact, co-exist with post-traumatic stress disorder. The aim of this course is to take this journey from being unintentional to intentional. Post Traumatic Growth includes positive changes in at least one of the following:
Relating to Others
New Opportunities
Personal Strength
Growth and Changes in Beliefs
Deeper Understanding of Life
The journey towards Post Traumatic Growth includes the following phases, each based upon an environment of trust and connection:
Psychoeducation
Regulation
Disclosure
Narrative
Service
In this course we are focussing on the first two (2) phases – learning through Psychoeducation and learning about how we can better Regulate our Nervous System
