We’ve all done it. We get so deep into our own branding, our mission statements, and our business philosophy that we forget the golden rule of online sales: If you confuse them, you lose them. I had the privilege of running a few deep-dive store audits for some brands this week, and I noticed a massive, recurring theme. Founders love using poetic, ultra-creative slogans right at the top of their homepage. Things like: "We craft elevated synergy for the modern lifestyle." It sounds beautiful. It feels premium. But here’s the cold truth: The customer has absolutely no idea what you are actually selling. Are you selling luxury couches? High-end coffee beans? Activewear? When a stranger lands on your website, their brain instantly tries to answer three questions in under 5 seconds: 1. What do you sell? 2. How will it make my life better? 3. What do I click to buy it? Open up your website on your phone right now and look at the very first sentence. If a total stranger saw it without looking at your product photos, would they know exactly what you do?
