This community exists for owner-operators who personally care about the guest experience—from the way a space feels when someone walks in, to how a stay is remembered long after checkout. This is not a place for shortcuts, growth hacks, or “scale at all costs.”It is a place for hosts who take pride in what they’ve built and want to keep raising the bar. What You’ll Find Here - Thoughtful discussion around experience-first hosting (weekly calls) - Design, layout, and flow feedback from peers who get it - How to attract guests who value quality—not just price - Ways to create memorable moments without burning yourself out - Inspiration from other hosts who will help you stand apart from basic listings Who This Community Is For - Owner-occupied or owner-operated short-term rentals - One or two thoughtfully run properties - Hosts who believe hospitality is a craft - People who want better guests—not necessarily more guests Who This Community Is NOT For - Arbitrage or high-volume operators - “How do I scale to 10 units?” discussions - Set-it-and-forget-it hosting - Owners of "basic - typical" listings that don't stand out There’s nothing wrong with those approaches—there are other groups that focus on volume based operators. (Age of the home, setting, story, or experience you’re creating) WE OWN AND OPERATE COOKS COTTAGE ON LAKE JAMES - 4TH GEN LAKE COTTAGE ON THE SHORES OF LAKE JAMES (A PRISTINE, CRYSTAL CLEAR GLACIAL LAKE THAT IS ALL SPORTS AND HAS A STATE PARK ON ONE OF IT'S SHORELINES - POKAGON). 3. Owner-occupied or owner-operated? How hands-on are you with your guests and the space? WE LIVE IN THE COTTAGE, BUT HAVE A SEPARATE ENTRANCE AND WILL HONOR OUR GUEST'S PRIVACY SO THEY MAY NEVER SEE US, BUT WE DO MEET A LOT OF OUR GUESTS WHO END UP BOOKING ONE OF OUR ADD ON EXPERIENCES. 4. How long you’ve been hosting? New, growing, or seasoned—all are welcome here. WE'RE ENTERING OUR 5TH YEAR OF HOSTING IN 2026 AND ARE DEFINITELY SEASONED HOSTS. WE COACH MANY IN OUR AREA AND HELP THEM TO IMPROVE THEIR LISTINGS. 5. What part of the guest experience you care most about (Arrival, comfort, food, design, communication, privacy, moments of delight, etc.) WE TRY TO PROVIDE EVERY POSSIBLE THING THAT A GUEST MAY WANT DURING THEIR STAY, FROM HIGH END KITCHEN APPLIANCES (VITA MIX, SOUS VIDE, LE CREUSET COOKWARE, SUPER COMFY LOVE SAC COUCHES & LUXURIOUS BEDDING, MOROCCAN OIL SHAMPOOS AND CONDITIONERS, A COMMERCIAL ESPRESSO MACHINE, AND BEAUTIFUL DESIGN THROUGHOUT THE HOME. 6. Do you offer any "experienced- based", optional add-ons that set your listing apart from others (cooking classes, private chef, barista, tours of the city, art classes, etc.)? WE OFFER OPTIONAL COOKING CLASSES, CHEF'S TABLE DINNERS, COMPLIMENTARY BARISTA/LATTE SERVICE, AND HISTORICAL BOAT TOURS ON THE LAKE. 7. What you’re currently refining or questioning?
