If I were starting all over again

Not sure how to title this.

If I wanted to start promoting a affiliate product. Where should I start?

Assume : intermediate computer user - able to follow instructions. Modest budget at present- say a few $100 , but not too much. Has access to clickbank and may be able to find other products. Knowledge of industry is limited to that of a consumer- not an expert in the health or wealth field. Time to spend is limited to weekends and some weekday nights.
