On my websites I have always been reluctant to ever delete a page, I have always repurposed it. I hate having broken pages and it's hard to know which websites are pointing to a page. Removing a page could break links on any number of sites.

Now Google has a policy on this. Interesting because they have always been the worst at deleting pages and breaking sites all over the internet, then they penalize the site for having a broken link.
