Why you shouldn't take business advice from non-experts
My video yesterday on raising your prices caused some serious conniptions in the underpants of a couple of people.
It's endlessly amusing to see people getting emotionally overwrought when they feel threatened by ideas they don't grok.
But I don't argue with 'em because I can't convince anyone of anything. Never mind the fact I've been doing and teaching this stuff for two decades and have never, ever known it to fail in that time, there's always someone who's convinced, "But... mY bUsINesS iS diFFeRent!!".
Their reasoning?
They're a butcher, baker, or candlestick maker, and I'm not.
For the love of all that's holy... how stupid can you be? (A rhetorical question I should stop asking because too many people take it as a challenge).
According to their logic, the best person to ask about cancer treatment is someone with cancer rather than, you know, an actual doctor.
Listen: if you ask advice from people suffering from a problem who haven't yet solved it, all they can tell you is how to live with it. If you want to fix it, speak to an expert.
