Online travel agencies provide convenience and a wide range of options, yet it's important to realize that they are not actually sellers of travel. This means that the hotel room you just booked was actually purchased in bulk by companies like Priceline or Orbitz - you fill in the blank.
Even worse, imagine being all set for your vacation, ready to pay, only to receive an error message stating that the dates are no longer available. Consequently, you have to start the booking process all over again.
While it may seem like you're saving money by bypassing the middleman (or woman, in my case) and booking travel yourself, in reality, you could end up paying more.
What do you like/dislike most about booking travel yourself?
