Teepa's groundbreaking GEMS® model is a cornerstone of her approach. This innovative framework categorizes the stages of dementia into six "Gems" - Sapphire, Diamond, Emerald, Amber, Ruby, and Pearl. Each Gem represents a stage in the progression of dementia, offering a unique perspective on providing care and support that aligns with the individual's current abilities and needs.
The GEMS® model moves away from the traditional and often stigmatizing view of dementia as a series of losses and declines.
