Stop the Spiral: 5 Urgent Steps to Rescue Your Week from Unproductivity
Hey Supercharged Entrepreneurs,
Ever had one of those DISASTER days where you get (almost) ZERO work done?
That was my Wednesday.
It started when I woke up 45 minutes late missing my 5am 'Needle Work' session.
Or perhaps it started on Tuesday when I got to bed 45 minutes later.
Maybe I was late to bed because I didn't meditate that day causing me to be more distracted..
And the day before I didn't eat enough calories leading me to feel sluggish and tired.
And so.
I hope you're getting the point.
One day of unproductivity is usually down to failures further up the 'funnel'.
Poor sleep habits, bad diet, dehydration, not meditating etc. So how do you bounce back and stop the 1 day of failure turning into the whole week?
Here are the 5 Urgent Steps to Rescue Your Week From Unproductivity:
Step 1: Accept
First things first, acknowledge that you've had an off day. Accept it. Don't beat yourself up.
Even the greats have their bad days. The difference is they don't let one bad day derail their entire week.
Step 2: Analyze
Sometimes bad days happen. Unfortunately it costs you because as an entrepreneur time IS money.
Employees don't care if they have an off day. They get paid anyway.
But as a Supercharged Entrepreneur, You MUST analyze what went wrong so you can stop it from ever happening again!
Was it really just a late night, or is there something more?
You need to dig deep and find the root cause of your unproductivity. Only then can you start to fix it.
Step 3: Adjust
Now that you know what's wrong, adjust your plan.
If you missed your 'Needle Work' session, reschedule it. If you ate poorly, prep your meals.
Make the necessary changes to your routine to ensure you're set up for success. I recommend using your Daily Action Planner and then get to bed EARLY so you're well rested for tomorrow.
Step 4: Act
Don't wait until 'tomorrow' to start your new plan. Begin with the next thing you can do, even if it's small. Remember, Action Begets Action!
The sooner you start, the sooner you'll get back on track.
Step 5: Anchor
As you start to have small wins, anchor them in. Celebrate them!
This will help build your confidence back up and reinforce the positive behavior that leads to productivity.
A common mistake is to start negative self talk, e.g. 'I'm lazy'. 'I'm not disciplined' etc.
This negative self talk only makes things worse!
Tell yourself you ARE DISCIPLINED!
Like I always say, YOU are your best hypnotherapist so program your mind to be the person you want to be. (If you don't believe this works ask David Goggins.)
Remember the story of the woodcutter?
The Parable of the Woodcutter
Once, there was a woodcutter who worked tirelessly, cutting trees from dawn until dusk. His output was impressive, and he felt proud of his hard work.
But one day, he found he could barely cut down one tree.
He was working just as hard as before, but his results were dismal.
A wise old woman passed by and saw his frustration. She asked him,
"How often do you sharpen your axe?"
The woodcutter replied,
"I haven't sharpened it since I started my work. I've been too busy cutting down trees."
The wise woman chuckled and said,
"If you take the time to sharpen your axe, you'll find you can cut down more trees with less effort."
The woodcutter took her advice.
He took time out of his day to sharpen his axe and, to his amazement, his productivity soared once again.
Just like the woodcutter, you need to sharpen your 'tools'—whether that's by getting enough sleep, eating right, or taking time to meditate.
If you neglect these things, your productivity will suffer, no matter how hard you work.
Remember, unproductivity can be a vicious cycle, but it's also an opportunity to recalibrate, reload and come back stronger.
Use these steps as your guide and you'll not only stop the spiral but also spin it into a dance of productivity.
