keyboard events button submits form

When I have the "sf-keyboard-events=true", hitting the enter key submits the form. Any common mistakes am I doing?

I'm effectively using the steps as 'slides' but still want the sf-submit functionality to work.

I believe I'm somehow bypassing the steps, and so sf is reading the enter key as the only possible event.

In the slide next buttons, there are 'sf=next' and 'studio-form=await' attributes. Thanks in advance!
