Marcus Aurelius
"You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength."
– Marcus Aurelius
Modern Understanding:
We can't control everything that happens to us, but we can choose how we react. Focusing on our internal responses gives us power.
Current Day Use:
Stuck in traffic? Instead of getting angry, use the time to practice mindfulness or listen to something relaxing. This shifts your focus from the external frustration you can't control, to your inner state that you can control.
Contemplation:
How often do you let external events dictate your happiness? What small steps can you take to focus more on your thoughts and reactions, instead of fixating on what's out of your control?
