Tonight's Discussion Topic: Building Recognition
Tonight we will discuss a few top performing creators and notice how each of them branded themselves in a specific way to reach their following, and successes that they have.
@doug_townson
  • “Come Holler”
  • Reacts to clickbait hook, sells the car
@deendoes
  • Uses his voice to brand himself
  • Recycles satirical quotes
  • Same font every time
@higherupwellness
  • Always wearing glasses
  • Frames his face the exact same way in every clip
  • Same font, same captions
@shreddedsages
  • Always shirtless
  • Talks with the same tone in every clip
  • Always reviewing a product to explain how bad it is for you
  • Always speaks as if it’s conversational (talking to the camera man)
@alexathanacio
  • Always starts his videos from a side profile of his face
  • Generally does skits, and plays all parts male or female
@thehairyhare
  • Excellent example of branding/recognizability - he recently started adding new reactions but he hit 1M using the same 2 clips
  • Always reacting to a cringe clickbait clip
  • He is the most simple example I have ever seen. He only recorded 2 clips ever to hit 1M. Same clips.
  • Every video he uses the same 2 recordings to react to the video: “hwhat” “What in the actual fu-“
@cadenmcdonald
  • Built his brand as the “Toothless Cowboy”
  • Generally this guy is either reacting to a clip, or hopping on a trend, but he built his following/recognition because he is missing his front tooth. He made that his brand. People recognized him because of it.
@DukeGomez7
  • 9/10 times he is reacting to a cringe clip in his car.  His accent helps with branding and recognition as well.
  • Ended up branding himself as a masculine character, and now sells merch and has met tons of huge celebs.
@cornbreadcowboi
  • This guy actually follows me and has a similar brand.
  • Notice how he walks in slow motion, always wears a hat that’s 3 sizes too big, and a shirt that’s 3 sizes too small.
  • Generally he’s hopping on a trend, or getting out of his car in all of his clips.
@im6footseven
  • Always reacting to another clip
  • Same angle in every video, same dark lighting.
  • Always speaking into a mic from a side profile.
  • Slogan “respectfully of course”
@waylon.6.7
  • Mf used to follow me back when he was at 35k. I think he was worried I was about to surpass him.
  • Always uses a trending quote
  • Always incorporates his truck, boat, or property
  • Has used my quotes multiple times (bc they work and are on brand)
@creatorkarro
  • Almost nothing about his videos are identical, however, he’s branded himself through an aesthetic. Which is generally dark themed.
  • Always has a tint to his clips (makes text pop)
  • Same font
  • Re-uses clips to gain recognition
@Micomoney
  • Same as creatorkarro - (I often get them confused).
  • Almost nothing about his videos are identical, however, he’s branded himself through an aesthetic. Which is generally dark themed.
  • Always has a tint to his clips (makes text pop)
  • Same font
  • Re-uses clips to gain recognition
@gstaadguy
  • Interesting example. I want you to pay attention to something…Look at the face he makes in all of his reels. It’s kind of like a snobby, rich kid, frown.
  • He branded himself as a snobby rich kid, capitalizes on trending quotes.
  • Don’t overthink your brand. This guy literally branded himself making a weird face over and over again with different style content.
  • “Old-Money, rich, European, snobby”
  • Look at his profile pic, and his grid. The face is repetitive.
  • His name is Colton, but he created this “character” named Constance for his reels.
@thatguyged
  • Same dark tones
  • Peaky Blinder Aesthetic
  • Depressed/bad boy style content
  • Same exact hashtags in the exact same order in all of his reels.
@kydyuzhini
  • Another excellent example: Unboxing videos.
  • Reacts to product clip
  • “I need this on my desk now” Prop: Credit card
  • Tests product
  • Fake cries at the end of each clip where the product sucks. (Even uses the same sound and filter)
@ohmontaine
  • Talking videos, always starts it out saying the exact same phrase
  • “Do you want to hear another absolutely disgusting secret about men that they absolutely do not want you to know, and as usual this is an absolutely full-proof method, please pay attention and do not tell anyone I told you.”
  • Always tugging on his shirt to show off his v-taper (sex appeal to women)
