The 3M Young Scientist Challenge and other Science Fairs/Competitions
I have questions about the 3M Young Scientist Challenge so that I may participate in it this year:
1. Do I have to make a 1-2 minute long video that addresses a problem that impacts me, my family, community, and/or the globe?
2. Can this solution be in a particular field of science even though the topic list on your website describe areas of engineering such as robotics, home improvement, safety, AR/VR, climate technology, et cetera?
3. Does my video have to describe a solution in the sense that I should engineer a solution (make a product that fixes a problem)?
4. For the summer internship, there are calls with 3M Scientists to help finalists make the real-life solution to the problem, so do finalists have to come to the Minneapolis center for it?
5. This year I will also be participating in other science fairs and competitions, in which I will have to make a product for them, instead of acquiring help from 3M scientists during a summer mentorship program as your wonderful competition incorporates. Thus, this creation of a product might affect my participation in the 3M Young Scientist Challenge, so what is your advice?
6. Are there new themes and rules annually which govern how I and on what I make my project?
7. How long do I have to create my video and when is this time constraint?
8. What do I have to do for this challenge and what is the timeline?
