Research Project Questions - WSSEF -> ISEF

I'm a rising junior this year and would like some advice on how to start preparing for WSSEF (Washington State Science and Engineering Fair – Promoting Future Scientists and Engineers). I've found it challenging to narrow down a specific research topic. I know I want to focus on Health and Computer Science, but I'm unsure how or where to start. I'm very familiar with ML and Java/Python, so coding should not be the problem. Should I find a mentor before or after choosing my topic?

I've never done anything like this before, so it's a bit overwhelming. I feel a little lost, but I'm grateful for this platform to reach out for help!
