Research paper on Germination methods

Hello everyone, at my school the class Senior Project is mandatory in senior year. We have to write a research paper semester one and design a product semester two. For my semester two product, I am thinking of conducting a experiment changing the salinity and pH level of soil and seeing the effect it has on germination. I will have a experiment group (where I make the soil more acidic/ less saline) and control group where I use the soil as it is and compare the germination rates. I am thinking of making a lesson plan with my findings that I will present to my school. I would appreciate any ideas that could be helpful for my experiment.
