Some of that's through ads, some of that's from organic traffic. 0:11:35 But so those are two things there. The, the biggest thing that I like to describe to people is that think of Google as like, as like a little kid. 0:13:31 Like it, like they just want attention. So the ways you do that are adding photos, getting reviews, po making Google my business posts, which can all be semi-automated. 0:13:56 And in the sense of like making your posts can, you can post the same thing you post on Instagram and stuff that you do on your Google Business page. 0:14:02 Right? Mm-hmm. , these people are paying $4 a click for Google. So obviously Google wants to sell ads. 0:18:15 That's how they make a lot of money, right? So those are the top ones. So this right here is a new edition and there's a lot of people upset about it, but this is what's called this, these three right here, used to be called the map pack, meaning these three are it's like your Google Maps, your Google Business profile listing. 0:18:36 And it is it is organic, meaning that it's not paid for anybody that clicks on this link. You know, it's free, you don't have to pay three or $4, whatever. 0:18:44 But they just added to the top of map pack. They just added a new section where you can run an advertisement in the top of map pack. 0:18:52 But this guy is still paying, this person is still paying, you know, $4 per click for everything, for everything that happens on their profile, right? 0:19:00 But these three right here, this is the money spot. This is where you want to be. You wanna be where somebody types in photographers near me or whatever you wanna be right here ranking organically. 0:19:08 Okay? So because what happens is, is these are all paid for. This is paid for right here. And then down here we have yelp.com, and you're gonna get into Thumbtack and all these massive companies like, you know, Yelp, Thumbtack, these big conglomerates of companies that just kind of connect 0:19:23 , you know, people that want a photographer with photographers. And they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on seo, which means search engine optimization to rank right there. 0:19:32 So it's really hard for, you know, Jarrell or someone like y'all to compete with Yelp on seo. It's just, it's, it's, it's a difficult deal. 0:19:39 You can do it with local seo, but it's just a, it's a process. But this right here is the lowest hanging fruit ranking right here. 0:19:46 And these top three organically is great. See if you, but if you're ranking number four, you can see that that you have to click more businesses and most people aren't gonna do that. 0:19:56 Right? Like if you wanna add a photo in every day, you have to log on, go to this page and add a photo every single day, right? 0:33:02 But this software lets you schedule out post schedule out photos geotag all those images and lets you see how you're ranking. 0:33:09 So it's super beneficial. And like I said, it's 20 bucks a month and definitely think it's worth it. It's, if you, if you are gonna take this seriously, it's no-brainer worth it. 0:33:19 So I'll share my screen real quick and kind of show you how to geotag some images and how to drip them out and add them. 0:33:26 Because another thing I'll say that's important is that if you go and get on your Google Business profile and you add 200 photos and you make all these changes, and you add all your products and you add like a hundred frequently asked questions or q and as in the sections that we can get to later, Google's 0:33:41 gonna be like, whoa, Nelly, like, slow down. Like, like, and they, they might restrict your account for a bit because anytime that Google sees like a massive amount of action, it triggers a red flag and they, they're, they, they don't want, you know, they don't want somebody to be abusing or abusing 0:33:55 or taking advantage of whatever they think is gonna be the best. So we wanna drip this out over time. Once again, Google would rather have attention every single day than they would have, like, you know, have you do a whole bunch of stuff in one day and just set it and forget it. 0:34:09 Okay. Like set it, forget and doesn't really work with them. They want you to be uploading photos every day. All you have to do is put your email in and it's gonna connect your account to it. 0:34:58 From there, what you want to do to add photos is you want to go to gallery and you want to click on upload and, and then you wanna go select all your photos, right? 0:35:10 And so before you do this though, what you need to go to is you need to click on your little profile and you'll click on Exif Templates, and then you'll wanna do create an Exif template. 0:35:22 And what this is gonna do is this is gonna add the, the the information behind your photo and give Google more information. 0:35:30 Google is a search engine, so the more information they have, the better, the more information that they have, the, you know, the better they'll be able to properly rank you and suggest you for, you know, when somebody types in something. 0:35:41 So what you wanna do with this is you just want to keep you wanna add your keywords in. So add your services, add, you know, maternity photography, fraternity photography, wedding photography, et cetera. 0:35:51 You wanna keep the location, you know, location the way it is here, you wanna keep the description and title. All this, these little brackets means is just gonna auto-populate from your Google business profile. 0:36:01 So that description that you add, that you add that I said just like use your Instagram bio, that's gonna auto automatically populate here and gonna be uploaded to the to the back of the image. 0:36:12 And then you can just keep all these the same. And then you can put your name and stuff right here if, if you want to. 0:36:18 But yeah, the biggest thing is just adding the keywords, adding, you know, Chicago Photo photographer, et cetera. So then when you click on gallery and you go to upload a bunch of photos, just do this, go to upload a bunch of photos, you will be prompted to, ah, dang it, that's not a downloaded image. 0:37:11 When you go to upload a photo, it's gonna say you, you'll select it, and then you'll click on schedule, and then you can you wanna add your location to it. 0:37:21 So add your location, be right here, click add location, and then you wanna do override with template. I sometimes I be like, iffy on like, what should I charge somebody? 0:39:36 Like, like I had a maternity shoe Sunday mm-hmm. and I talked roughly around $400 mm-hmm. for about, what was it? 0:39:47 Two, two is two hours. But I had to, I didn't take account, I didn't take accountability for how much amateur studio would cost hourly as well. 0:39:54 Yeah. New York City is like a, it's, it's a, it's a tough, it's a, it's a lot of competition basically, I should say. 0:40:02 Yeah, yeah, for sure. So like, in terms of pricing, it's, it's, it's one of those things, it's obviously issue. So for example, imagine if you had, if you had 50 people texting you or calling you every week saying, Hey, can you help me? 0:40:18 Hey, can you help me? Hey, can you help me? Then you would feel pretty confident in saying like, Hey hey, it's gonna be 800, 800 bucks for, you know, two hour shoot. 0:40:26 Right? Be because you're like, if they say no, then it's like, okay, it's okay. I can't, I literally cannot take 50 people on a week, right? 0:40:32 So I would much rather charge $800 than, than take the 10 people that are, are gonna pay me, you know, 300 or 400, right? 0:40:41 And so in a sense that like, it's 80 20, right? So 20% of your 20% of your customers will pay 80% more than others. 0:40:48 I, I was actually talking to a photographer the other day. He's actually out, out of the uk like overseas. And he was like, I was charging when he, I think he was like, I was charging 700 for I think it was like family portraits, like an hour or two. 0:41:01 And he was like, I was really busy. I was, I was really busy. I had a lot of work and, but I was kind of getting iffy into, I was like, should I, should I be charging two? 0:41:08 Like, like I can, I could definitely take more work. So if I knock it down to 500, I'll get more work and I'll end up making more money. 0:41:15 It'll be a little more work, but I'll get a lot more streets. Right? And so he knocks it down to 500 and he, like, he literally kept this, like he did about the same, or even like, lost some traffic. 0:41:24 I think he said he was doing like 30 to 40 shoots a month. And then he went down to 500 and he started doing around like 25 to 30. 0:41:32 And so he was making, doing the same work and making a lot less money. And then he was like, and then I was like, screw it. 0:41:38 I'm just gonna be the high price guy. If I even get half the deals at this price, I'll do it. 0:41:42 And then he knocked it up to like 1100 or 1200 and he literally had more work than he had on a seven because a certain percentage of people don't care what the price is. 0:41:50 They just want the best. Like, they literally just just want the best. But it's hard to try and find, it's hard to try and find, you know those people when you don't have reviews, you don't have a lot of, you know, te you don't have testimonials, you don't have a lot of leads coming in because 0:42:06 then you're like, you, like you get your one lead for the week and you're like, it's gonna be 1100 bucks and you're like super scared cuz like, you kind of need this money, right? 0:42:15 And I do the same thing with my market. Like when I'm with my clients, I'm like, I know that when I have less traffic, less, you know, bills coming in, less sales calls, I get more desperate and I, I sound more desperate and I, I charge less. 0:42:27 Cause I'm just like, any, anybody with a credit card, if you just gimme your credit card, I swear I'll run it. 0:42:31 Right? But to a certain extent is like, and y'all probably all heard this before, but like, they did a study, they put three wines in front of people. 0:42:38 They said, this is the least expensive. This is the, the, you know, media, this is the medium, it's expensive, this is the most expensive wine. 0:42:45 And every single time people say the most expensive wine is the best, but they're all the same wines, right? We like, like we genuinely like people, if you pay a lot of money for it, you value it more, period. 0:42:55 And so and it, you know, depends on where you are in your business, right? At the beginning you're probably going to have to probably gonna have to do some, you know, less, you know, less expensive shoots maybe to just get those customers, get those testimonials, get those reviews. 0:43:11 But really a lot of it comes down to just lead flow. Like, if you have a lot of leads coming in, you're, you're not scared to say, Hey, I charged 1100 bucks, right? 0:43:19 . And I, and it was like, Hey, I charged 1100 bucks because like, here's my stack of testimonials. Like, check it out. 0:43:24 I have 50 reviews on Google, they're all great. Here's seven video testimonials from people that, that are just like you that wanted maternity shoot, et cetera. 0:43:32 If you want the best, I would love to, you know, do that for you. I struggle with pricing too. 0:43:55 I'm sorry, but I'll usually try to Google like how much it is in my area Yeah. Or whatever. So I can, I try to stay in between the mom and pop and the big businesses. 0:44:08 Yeah. And that was because my, that was just like, you know, your Audi your target audience. So what I'm trying to leave is, which is the audience that I have now, which is just my social media, which is just like your friends, friends and friends friends. 0:44:23 I want to get away from that because those are the people that are a little less supportive to me Yeah. 0:44:30 Than someone that I've never met. So I'm trying to, that's why I do want the website and whatever I need to do to get my name out to different people basically. 0:44:40 Yeah, yeah. For sure. And I, I guess like another thing that I'll say about pricing is like we, we do like, I like we do this, that where we like look outta the market, like, let's see people in an area, what are they charging? 0:44:52 And we're gonna take, like, we're gonna be a little bit above the cheapest, but we're gonna be like, we're gonna still be competitive. 0:44:58 And like, what it ends up being is it ends up being a, a race to the bottom. Right? And so if you, if everybody keeps doing that, then the prices in your area just keep going down and down and down. 0:45:07 And, and one of my favorite courses, like it's by Dan Kennedy and it's like there's no advantage being, there's no advantage to being the second cheap, the second most expensive product in the market on the marketplace. 0:45:18 But there is an advantage to being the most expensive, right? Like look at, look at what's his name? Dan Armon or whatever, the guy that owns Louis Vuitton and all those brands. 0:45:26 He's the most, he's the richest person in the world right now. Like above Betos, above Elon Musk, above, et cetera, all those people because he charges $10,000 for a purse, right? 0:45:36 Like he's, he's reaching a different market and, and the reason he can do that is because he's spent years of branding and like associating his brands with the, you know, LeBron James with these celebrities, with this, et cetera. 0:45:48 And so, you know, that's, that's why he can do that, right? But we have to get to the point where we never wanna charge more, Val, we never wanna charge, you know, more, more than we're worth. 0:45:57 Right? But in a, in a real way that your, your solution is more valuable. Like solve rich people's problems to get rich people prices. 0:46:05 Right? . So like there's a story about a guy who's like trying to sell his car, right? And his dad's like, Hey, go, go see boy this deal give you for his, this car. 0:46:17 And he is like and the deal's like, Hey, I give you like 2000 bucks. Like it's not that great. And then he takes it down to the junkyard, he's like, Hey, how much would he give me? 0:46:23 He's like, ah, I'll give you like a thousand dollars just for parts or whatever. And then he is like, Hey, take it down to this guy, this collector guy, right? 0:46:28 He, he's take down him, see, see he wants to it and he takes it to it and he is like, oh my gosh, like this is amazing. 0:46:33 I be $50,000 for it. This is like a very rare car, et cetera. And so his, he had the same product, he had the same car in all three situations, but it was way more valuable to that one person cuz he was a collector of that thing. 0:46:44 Right? So, and that's, that's kind of a simple example of like, just make you wanna charge more money. You know, certain people, their problems are worth a lot more to them than others, right. 0:46:54 . So yeah. And, and obviously it's, it's, it's a lot easier to charge these high prices when you ha when you, you know, look like a premium guy like Lululemon. 0:47:06 You know, Lululemon didn't just, or like, I just think cuz like Lululemon obviously is a higher price player in like the athletic wear space, right? 0:47:14 Lule didn't just say like, Hey, we're gonna get, we're gonna get like a crappy product and we're not like gonna have any like social proof or any branding at all. 0:47:20 We're just gonna jack our prices up way higher than Nike and Adidas and all the other, right. They didn't say that. 0:47:25 Right. They, they like said, Hey, we, they built the branding and the, the brand, brand around being the best. Right? 0:47:30 The best product, the best, whatever. And so yeah, that's just kind of thought, but once again, it's hard to charge us high prices when you're like not having a lot of people calling you. 0:47:41 Right. To be honest, a lot of my friends and family are probably not like the ideal clientele to expect for like, high paying, you know, high paying client to Yeah. 0:51:44 You know, are really gonna make you big money anyway. And they're like, well, I post on Instagram and then I sit on Instagram for an hour and like other people's photos and comment and DM people and be genuine because they're like, it's a social network and the more you're engaging with the people in your community and your niche 0:52:59 , the more that, you know, if you're being social on social, you know, social media, they, they will push you. So it's kinda like Gary v's. 0:53:05 Like dollar 80 strategy, or you just go to your, you, you go to like 10 hash, you gotta, I think it's like, like 10 hashtags and leave, you know, your 2 cents on like three different posts or whatever. 0:53:17 Like just comment and like, whatever. Because they just wanna see who you're engaging with because if you're engaging with a whole bunch, I mean, y'all know if you, if you watch if you watch a surfing, like go through a page on Instagram, it's like a surfing page and you watch a hundred 0:53:31 lit videos for 20 minutes, then all of a sudden you start getting surfing videos all over your, for you page and whatever, right? 0:53:38 And so if you're doing the similar thing, like in your area or you know, around photography, you'll start getting more doggy stuff. 0:53:44 So I would recommend just focusing on the one page and, you know, going, going all on with that. I think, and that's kind of a hairy situation right now, I'll be honest. 0:53:54 Like right now, most of the stuff that I do for photographers to help them get more clients is through Google Ads and Google ea. 0:54:01 That's kind of the two, two big ones. It's like, it's like, Hey, I'm doing maternity, I'm doing maternity shoots for under 99 bucks, but it's like, you just kind of devalued yourself and your service there, right? 0:54:48 So things that I recommend is keeping your price the same, but adding additional stuff on top. And so instead of saying, Hey, I'm doing $199, she was like, Hey, I'm doing a, a free, and this is something that I'm working on right now. 0:55:03 I'm doing like a free storybook for for, I'm doing a free storybook for every maternity, a free digital storybook for every maternity shoot that I do. 0:55:12 Right? And so from there that'll walk them, what you can do is it's just an ebook. It's not gonna cost you anything. 0:55:17 And if they wanna print it, then you can get it printed, right? But kind of what you do is they just go on a, they just go on your website or like a little form and put their name they're their kind of due date, other stuff. 0:55:28 And then like every week it'll like ask 'em a question through text and they just like respond. And I, I think that you know, fiver or up or Upwork, I would honestly recommend Upwork who it's, it's just upwork.com and you can just type in what you need and you can hire somebody overseas for anywhere from like five to 10 bucks an hour. 0:58:07 You want to interview them, you wanna kind of give them some test projects, say, Hey, I'll pay you like 15 bucks to just edit this, these five photos for me. 0:58:15 See how it goes. It's called Upwork. Upwork, Okay. See you. And, and what I recommend is, instead of doing an interview and let them like show you what they can potentially whatever you, instead of doing like a 30 minute long interview, just like say, Hey, I'm gonna pay you 10 bucks to edit these five 0:58:37 photos or whatever, or, and do that with lot. Do that with three or four or five different people and see who comes back to the list and see who does it quickly, et cetera. 0:58:45 And you'll, you'll learn a lot more that way than just like sitting on throwing an interview where they tell you about how they're qualified. 0:58:51 Right. And secondly, I would look into, I know that there's like plenty on the marketplace and I hear great things and I hear bad things, but I would also look into like the new, some of the new AI editing stuff. 0:59:02 You know, if it's worth the time. I've heard very mixed reviews. Some people swear by it. Like I know like imagine AI is one that I've heard people swear by, but I've also heard people say it's like, nah, it's not, not that good You're having, if you're having too much work during pro 0:59:18 scene. I don't know how it is in your area, but you may, what you may wanna do is try and see if, like, if they're still buying packages, see if you can get in as the official prime photographer mm-hmm. 0:59:28 Because then you're getting a whole bunch of work in one session and you can make easily 50 to 150, $200 per package and shoot everybody. 0:59:38 And then maybe another thing that you could do is if people aren't like renting, if they're gonna have all of their stuff, maybe try and get them to do the sessions. 0:59:47 Like not on prom day. So I do video too. 1:00:09 So when I put it all together but the, the most time, the most time consuming part is once I take all of those photos going through 'em, which ones I'm gonna put in the slideshow. 1:00:21 So if I can get the editing done, I basically, I can't even do the video until I do the pictures first, until I edit the pictures and then I do the video. 1:00:30 But I think that that's kind of like my package As far as prom photos, I, I don't do a lot of prom just photos. 1:00:38 I do the private event, so it's usually a few hours for that event, but if I do graduation photos, that's a little bit easier. 1:00:46 Mm-hmm. because again, the way they have the new, the, the school photography set up, but I am trying to get into some schools it's standard. 1:00:54 These kids want something different. But if then if they want like the video and all of that, because some of them just want me to record them coming out. 1:02:26 Some people want me to be there to record them getting dressed. So I'm doing that now. Yeah, for sure. 1:09:38 So, and, and especially in terms of weddings, this is something that I wanna work on with some of my clients. 1:09:43 In terms of weddings, if you think of like the expensive venues in your area, like the, the, the ones that people are paying like, oh, like these are like 50, 60, 70, $80,000 weddings you know, and up think about those venues and just kind of thinking about, and like most people will be 1:09:59 like, oh, I need, I'll reach out to them and tell 'em that hey just they'll give 'em some generic offer but just try and provide some value. 1:10:06 So that's why I really recommend the Google My Business because that venue needs their Google My Business page. You know, they, they need to work on their Google business profile page just as much as you do. 1:10:14 And so you can learn that and kind of master that. That's something that you can kinda offer to them. Say, Hey, like if you don't mind, like I see your, I'm a photographer in the area. 1:10:23 I've really been working on my Google business profile and it's really been helping me get some more leads. Like, you, you want me to help y'all with that. 1:10:29 Like I would love to obviously work with y'all eventually, but I would love to just kind of help you out with this and you can just kind of set them up do some of the same stuff that you did for yours. 1:10:36 And then next thing you know, you're like buddies and, and they're like, dude, this, you know, this Michael Guy just reached out, help us out for free. 1:10:42 We just got a new lead from our Google My Business page. But they probably heard that, they probably heard that a bunch. Like obviously like the expensive venues are a great way to get the expensive client. 1:11:14 Cuz I'm actually getting married in October and like, we're not at the most expensive venue, but it's like they just got a default. 1:11:19 They just got a default photographer. Like they got a default photographer, she charges like five grand. And like it wasn't much of a con conversation. 1:11:26 They were just like, Hey, this is our lady, she's amazing. There's no one better than her. Like, you wanna work with her? 1:11:30 We called her DA up, put the deposit down like , that was it. Right. , you know, it was, it was Oh good stuff. 1:11:37 Yeah. And that, that's so, and the thing was, it's like she's been doing, she's been doing, you know, weddings for them for years now and they do like 40, 50 weddings a year. 1:11:46 So they're suggesting her for every single wedding. Think about that. Just one connection. That one connection that she made has probably made her hundreds of thousands of dollars. 1:11:54 And so you know, getting in with those people that, that are , it's like, it's like it's imagine going and walking door to door knocking on doors and saying, Hey, do you wanna buy my chocolate? 1:12:07 Or you can just go out in front of the supermarket of the people that you know are already selling food or are, I mean, are already going to buy food and asking to buy chocolate. 1:12:14 You're gonna buy, you're gonna sell a lot more chocolate cuz you're going where everybody else is going to buy their food. 1:12:18 Right.
