Amor Fati
Love Your Fate.
How often do you experience a bad day?
What is your attitude towards the bad days you experience?
Do you accept it?
Do you embrace it?
Do you complain about it?
Do you let it ruin your mood?
The Stoics came up with a concept called 'Amor Fati'.
This Latin phrase means 'love of one's fate'.
The Stoics believed that an individual must embrace and accept the troubling situations of life.
They believed one should love bad days as much as good ones.
Now, this doesn't mean we must pretend we don't feel pain.
Amor Fati isn't denying our pain.
When something happens that we didn't expect or want, instead of resisting it or getting caught in regret, we should ask ourselves:
how can I use this?"
What can I learn from this?
How can I grow from this?
And that subtle change of perception helps us view obstacles as opportunities.
Opportunities for growth.
Opportunities for change.
So, love your fate.
