Today I started the Aspinall75 created by Tom Aspinall, the interim Heavyweight Champion in the UFC. It's similar to Andy Frisella's 75Hard. At first, I was scared to start it. Thinking I'd fail. But then, I remembered this. An idea.
An idea that truly has an impact in the way we think - I know it did for me.
There's something called fixed mindset and something called growth mindset. The terminology has been coined by Carol Dweck who wrote a great book about the topic.
A fixed mindset is often stating "this is just the way I am." Or "I can't." They are limiting words that are backed with a limiting beliefs.
A growth mindset is about the belief that you have the capability to learn and to change. While right now you are not able to do the thing, with the right tools and trainings you can.
When I ruptured my achilles tendon I thought I was done. I kept telling me myself "I can't run anymore" or "I can't work out. This is just the way it must be."
That was my fixed mindset. Set in it's way.
But overtime I've learned to develop a new way of thinking. The growth mindset. Yes, I have a ruptured achilles but it does not mean I am doomed. I can do other things. I can learn to strengthen myself legs. I even started MMA training with the ruptured achilles.
It's possible. You just need to believe that you can change and will change.
What can of mindset do you have?
Here's an assessment you can take and share with us your score. I just found the website randomly but you can do your own search too. Let's get it.
