From $27 per day to $575 per day 🔆
Today I visited my old busking spot.
I used sit out here for hours on end in the Australian summer heat and play my acoustic covers of pop songs.
No shade. Just me, my guitar and a case.
I forgot to put sunscreen on one day and had the worst tan of my life above my knees 😂
There were many days in which I’d get around $7 or $13 for 3 hours of playing.
Other days I’d get a good flow of foot traffic and leave with $35-$80 in my guitar case.
I’d have people ask if I was homeless and I would reply: “No I’m just a musician” 😂
I’d have people accuse me of “pretending to play the guitar” because I was using a loop pedal. 🙃
It was tough. A lot of people have it worse but it was still tough. There were a few days where I only earned enough to buy a sandwich on the way home.
Did you have any days like this?
Even though those days were tough, I wouldn’t change it. Those days in the heat taught me about the hard work it takes to achieve your goals and I feel like it pushes me every day to make the most of what I do now.
If you said in a couple of years if I would be doing something that I loved and earning $575 per day teaching group classes, I’d say you were full of it.
It’s not about the money but rather the freedom that I feel now. In addition to this, I feel like I’m making a difference in all of my students lives and I love seeing them grow in confidence and creativity each week.
It’s a good reminder to appreciate how far I’ve come. I’d recommend you do the same and think about what you can achieve in the future!
Have a great day guys 😊
