Scam vs. Non-Scam
Banks employ clever systems and people so that their customers lose as little as possible.
But they aren't perfect.
Non-Scam - Legitimate Purchase
We are selling a property - and property marketing fee is coming up on CBA alert as a new bank account. But because the "pay now" unique button says "the below BSB and ACC numbers are unique identifiers to your invoice" - I'm confident to proceed because it all makes sense.
Accidental Use of Your Email/Phone
I've had times where my email/phone number has been used by accident.
For example my phone number is accidentally put for someone picking up a parcel* - if I need to "tell" the business that it is an issue I do so, but in this case (the parcel was collected I assume by the correct person) - I ignore it.
(*Note - this was the legitimate AUS-Post SMS that I've had other messages from and I couldn't reply to - not just a mobile number that is a typical scam that says "your parcel has been delayed")
Love to hear of your scam/non-scam.
