The ATO have always had an 8-week service standard for amended returns.
Until that 8-week period has passed it is a complete waste of time to speak to the ATO.
Calling the ATO might take us slightly less time than you as we have a dedicated tax agent line but still may take us half an hour to 45 minutes.
I generally suggest to our clients noting on your calendar 8 weeks from when you lodge the amended returns and calling the ATO themselves on 132861.
I note the ATO state here they aim to complete amendments within 20 business days once all information is provided Online (this would be approximately 4 weeks x 5 business days = 20 business days).

Below is questions about an Amended Return - where the ATO have requested that an "out of time" objection form be lodged with the amended return as the amended return is being lodged more than 2 years after the receipt of the Original Notice of Assessment.
If The ATO make a decision you don't like - it may be possible to Object to their Decision.
While it is rare that this works - we occasionally use this process to try to allow an Amended return which is lodged after the standard 2 year amendment period.
Typicially this should be done within 60 days.
