If you want to avoid coming across spammy, salsy and sounding like a robot. You can try to be real. Who do you connect with in real life, and how do you do it?
Think more about the connection, than the words. Be curious you probably want to know the person & why they connected with you, lead in with that. The more you're being yourself, the less you'll come off as a robot.
