Balancing Care & Career - a Life Interrupted
📞 I got the phone call on May 20th, 2024......
It's been nearly a month & I'm finally finding my 'footing' in this new normal while still in the 'thick' of advocating, balancing, coordinating & supporting...
In addition to balancing my responsibilities to my husband, our home & my small business.
There has been quite a few days since May 20th, 2024 where I've failed miserably.
There are other days that remain a blur as I made necessary decisions at a break-neck pace.....
Each decision fell solely upon me.
2024 marks my 24th year of being a primary family caregiving support to a parent. Once my Dad's life journey ended in 2016; my care & advocacy efforts turned bo my mother.
It's an HONOR to be my Mom's primary person, POA, ardent advocate & daughter.
I made a promise to my Dad on the morning of his death, when I whispered into his ear, my vow to take care of his wife. Dad's last breath was only a few hours later as he held the hand of his beloved of 63 years.
The time has come to fulfill my promise to my father. Mom needs me now more than ever & we are navigating this new chapter & season together.
Since May 20th, 2024; I've mightily managed this current care crisis with all the eb & flow of navigating a broken & challenging 'health care' pipeline filled with providers & services that are painfully NOT family or elder friendly.
I have sooooooooooooo much to say 😏
