Chord pattern?
Hmmm.. not sure which this is, Chord or Pattern... or both. But a favorite singer songwriter, James McMurtry, does this cool thing where he anchors his ring and pinky finger on the 2 and 1 string respectively, then moves his index and middle around minimally to hit a G (5, 6 - 2nd and 3rd fret), C (4,5 2nd and 3rd fret), D (6, 3 - both 2nd fret) and others.
Frees up his right hand to do all sorts of stuff, which he does mostly with a pick, but I aspire to try fingerstyle at some point. You can see him at it here (on a great tune Hurricane Party).
