Bad tenant in a block of ten
Hello fellow landlords, I’m after some advice. I have a block of ten residential flats in South Shields and currently in process of evicting one male tenant who is 3 months in arrears and was non responsive to our kind offers of payment plan etc. Court date for possession hearing is not until October (South Tyneside).
Since our eviction notice early July tenant has gone on a bit of a downward spiral, started partying, lots of loud music, people coming and going, smoking inside, smell of weed report, many women coming and going, drugs and this week, he was seen beating a lad up outside the front of the block of flats. Tenants have mentioned me may have debt problems and ow people money. Other tenants are disturbed by this and frightened so much so they will not report this to the police. I’ve also noticed he looks to have had the gas and electric meter exchanged… possibly without a utility Co approval…. Can anyone give me any advice I can do to help matters? One tenant who lives in ground floor below him is a young girl and very nervous but won’t call the police but I want to see what else I could do to get him out of the property, whilst staying within the law.
Thanks Sinéad
