My story...
Hey All,
I am currently experiencing what some might describe as a 'dark night of the soul' style chapter of my life...I've had an interesting cycle that I would like to share with you as hopefully it resonates with some of you and can help us connect deeper on some level... (DM me if you feel any of this!!)
Seven years ago I felt lost and confused at the direction of my life. My 20 year career as a successful private chef felt meaningless and unfulfilling. Catering to affluent clients, from jet setting to yachts in the south pacific to opulent mansions in the hamptons, I felt a profound sense of disconnection and emptiness. Once an exciting adventure, it now seemed devoid of purpose and felt out of sync of my true calling...
In 2018 I embarked on a journey of introspection, delving deep into my life's experience through meditation, exploring plant medicine, self development and seeking a like minded community. I began healing and letting go of limiting beliefs and patterns that once held me back. I finally felt something shift within me and it felt amazing...
After a lot of re-learning and connecting deeper with myself I was inspired to change careers and through a series of events (involving reading all of Dr Joe Dispenza's work, Meditating everyday and journaling on what I really wanted in life) I decided to go head first into building a tech company to help people like myself who were experiencing this shift and felt like they had found 'their calling'. I set out to create a tech solution to aid others undergoing similar transformations.
It felt exhilarating and aligned. My intuition was speaking to me and synchronicities occurred that were miraculous, confirming to me that I was exactly where I was meant to be...
I was able to raise some seed money and build the MVP and launch the app into the app store in 2022...Everything was moving ahead, not without some challenges but it had momentum nonetheless.
Armed with invaluable lessons in entrepreneurship, I navigated the intricate landscape of capital raising, market research, app development, pitching live to 200+ people, business modelling, the list goes on. From being a humble solo private chef from Australia/England to building a corporation in the US, the learning curve analogous to scaling a rock wall with no ropes! I was ALL in baby!!
And then...slowly but surely my limiting beliefs began to catch up with me and my fear
of being found out as a fraud began to surface. I began to run out of money, neglecting my other work out of obsession to make the app work, I began to hold on too tightly. As a pre-revenue venture with the current market climate, cracks began to show as fundraising was painstakingly slow. The relentless pursuit of success morphed into a suffocating cycle of burnout, sapping my life force and clouding my clarity of thought. After showing initial positive signs of traction (4000+ organic downloads) the speed at which we were growing began to slow down and the pressure mounted.
Interest waned and as uncertainty engulfs me as I write this out today to share where I am currently at, I know the story is not over. I find solace in the truth that every setback is but a stepping stone to greater growth. I will not give up on myself or my app. I know that I am building this to be of service to people who are going through the very process I am myself experiencing and I need to experience these challenges first hand in order for it to be a success.
My journey so far, though fraught with challenges, is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit—to the unwavering belief that within each of us lies the power to transcend adversity and emerge stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever before.
To anyone who is building a business, taking a chance on themselves, taking risks, becoming a new version of themselves (and or, all of the above...) Know that it will be worth it, you are not alone and the things you learn along the way are what makes this whole process worth it in the end. Keep going and keep aligned to your vision, it is your roadmap to your success. You have got this!
Thank you for reading this and please reach out if you need support and a reminder to not give up!
