EDI Document Types
I support a Transportation Management software as the Customer Support Team Lead. One of my teammates asked me about a particular EDI doctype, and I sent them this list which has proven very helpful over the last 8 years I've been working here—this list is relatively easy to find (I've included the URL where I found it), but I add to it occasionally, and I thought it might help someone in Freight Skool:
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Numbers:
  • 087 - Warehouse Receipt (LNOS specific)
  • 102 - Associated Data
  • 103 - Abandoned Property Filings
  • 107 - Request for a Motor Carrier Rate Proposal (Spot Quote Req.)
  • 108 - Response to a Motor Carrier Rate Proposal (Spot Quote Resp.)
  • 163 - Transportation Appointment Schedule Information (Extraction Jobs)
  • 204 - Motor Carrier Load Tender
  • 210 - Freight Details and Invoice
  • 211 - Bill of Lading
  • 212 - Delivery Trailer Manifest
  • 214 - Status Message/Tracking Update
  • 217 - Motor Carrier Loading and Route Guide
  • 227 - Trailer Usage Report (DAS)
  • 219 - Logistics Service Request/Load Plan
  • 220 - Logistics Service Response/Load Plan
  • 315 - Status Details (Ocean)
  • 601 - (U.S. Customs) Export Shipment Information
  • 753 - Request for Routing Instructions
  • 754 - Routing Instructions
  • 820 - Payment Order/Remittance Advice (Freight Bill)
  • 850 - Purchase Order (VIZ)
  • 851 - Asset Schedule
  • 856 - Ship Notice/Manifest
  • 858 - Shipment Information
  • 860 - Purchase Order Change Request - Buyer Initiated
  • 944 - Warehouse Stock Transfer Receipt Advice
  • 945 - Warehouse Shipping Advice
  • 990 - Response to the Load Tender
  • 996 - File Transfer (Address Import)
  • 997 - Functional Acknowledgement
I mainly use the 087, 107/108, 163, 204, 210, 214, 219/220, 753/754, 820, 850, 856, 860, 990, and 997 docs for my FTL, LTL, and Parcel shipments within the Americas and our Dock Appointment Scheduler software.
Do you use a VAN or other type of software to receive/action any of these types of EDI docs?
