The Freelance MVP Roadmap
Here's what the journey ahead looks like:
Step 1: Set up your foundation
Step 2: Get in the habit of going for excellence
Step 3: Make your first dollar
Step 4: Get 20 clients
Step 5: Make $10,000/month
Step 6: Financial freedom
A note about habits:
Reaching all six steps is possible, but it's a long road ahead.
If you're only doing a freelance job because you want money but not committed to excellence, then you probably won't make it.
In the beginning, you won't get a ton of money. Excellence takes time - if you're not consistent, you won't be persistent in achieving your goals and you'll quit.
The solution is to fall in love with growing. Every baby step you take will bring you further along your journey, every new trick you learn will bring you closer to your own personal Work Nirvana.
A note about money:
Money is important, but it's not our end goal.
Freelancing is growing exponentially. Businesses are hiring more and more freelancers, but they don't want crap - they want the BEST.
Our end goal is to commit to solving a specific client problem, full-time, and build a business out of it. Now that's a meaningful goal.
A note about $10,000/month:
It is possible to earn much more than this through freelancing, but this is roughly the point where there's a forced graduation into "business status" otherwise you'll burn out.
A note about Financial Freedom:
The goal isn't to sit on a beach and drink cocktails. The goal is to use your freedom do the things you love, become the master of your own destiny and build something greater than just yourself. This is the point where you can make some meaningful impact on the world, whether it's within your own sphere (e.g. by spending more time with your family) or on the wider world.
