I’ve historically done my open networking (connecting with most anyone who wants to connect) on platforms like Twitter and used LinkedIn only for connecting with current and former colleagues.
I have taken this approach for three main reasons: (1) to keep my feed focused updates from people I actually know, (2) to stave off the barrage of cold sales outreaches that I already receive through LinkedIn, and (3) to make sure I am not affiliated with people I don’t know who may tarnish my personal brand.
Just recently I went full-time fractional and I’m considering open networking on LinkedIn. My thinking is that the business development visibility benefits probably outweigh the downside.
I would appreciate any thoughts or input from the group.
