For anyone else who's interested in what makes your favorite songs tick - I've pondered the same thing for a long time. Especially hit songs!
Caleb Loveless has brought up the time in his life when he was making kareoke type tracks in a studio at one point. He said this helped him in understanding what makes a great production. I also found that to be extremely useful. By dissecting the songs we love we can find out why we like them so much and what techniques can be used to fill out the frequency for the respective genre you're going for. Imitation can often lead to inspiration. ๐๐ป
To try and grow my social media platforms soon, I'll be using my full stack producer approach to cover different songs on different days of the week. "Moody Mondays", "Throwback Thursdays", "What If...?" - that kind of thing. And you only need a small part of the song and it's still REALLY valuable. I'm practicing AND preparing content. Maybe that sounds like something you might want to try also! ๐ช๐ฝ Here are some demos of what I mean.
TL;DR: Do some covers of your favorite songs to imitate the production. It's awesome practice for producing and writing your own songs.
