This is a Dog Walker Red Flag 🚩

I was working with a dog the other day that goes to daycare but hides away every time they come to pick her up. To me this is a bit of a red flag.

I know there are times this might happen, and not be at all the fault of the walker/daycare e.g. the dog doesn't like travelling or is new to the service. However it's definitely something to pay attention to.

When I was younger I had a dog walking business for a number of years prior to going full-time with training. Sometimes it would take awhile for a dog to trust me but I never had any clients who's dogs would hide away from me or actively try not to come.

In fact, I'd probably tell them dog walking isn't for their dog if the dog really didn't like it that much even after getting to know me. Although that never happened.
